WESTERN AUSTRALIA — The sole winner of the $50 million Powerball jackpot has been identified and is still coming to terms with the life-changing news.
The winning ticket, sold online through Lotterywest Play Online, was drawn in Draw 1539 on Thursday night. Lotterywest contacted the winner on Friday to deliver the exciting news.
“The winner is understandably in shock and taking time to process this life-changing event,” said Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender. “They will be visiting Lotterywest headquarters in the coming weeks to claim their prize when they feel ready. We hope to welcome them into the winners’ room next week and hear their story.”
The winning numbers for Draw 1539 were 22, 10, 6, 15, 2, 8, 7, with the Powerball number drawn as 13. Matching all seven main numbers plus the Powerball is an extraordinary achievement, with odds of one in 134 million.
Lotterywest confirmed that this Division One winning ticket was the only jackpot winner across Australia for the draw and marks Western Australia’s fourth Division One Powerball win of the year.
