Investigation Details
Upon receiving a welfare check request, police and firefighters forced entry into the granny flat, discovering the bodies with visible lacerations. The couple had been renting the property for at least 12 months and were known to police in both NSW and Queensland for minor matters. There was no recorded domestic violence history in NSW, but the man had an extensive domestic violence offence history in Queensland. A white ute with Queensland registration was seized from the scene.
Detective Superintendent John Duncan said all lines of inquiry remained open. Police are investigating the deaths as an alleged murder-suicide. The exact cause of death and the duration the bodies were inside remain unclear.
Pets’ Welfare
The couple’s two dogs and a cat were found alive inside the flat and have been taken to a local veterinary clinic for care.
